  • Lector Role Description

    Lectors have the important role of proclaiming the Word of God during the celebration of the Eucharist and other liturgical services, such as the Liturgy of the Hours, the sacraments, and special liturgical celebrations. The lector is a vital and integral part of the liturgical life of the Church. Lectors are laypeople who are called to be faithful to the Word of God, proclaim it clearly and effectively, and to witness to its message in their daily lives.

  • Requirements

    • Registered Member of Prince of Peace, St. Gabriel, or St. Nicholas.
    • Fully initiated Roman Catholic (received Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist)
    •  At least 16 years old (or younger only with permission of the pastor).
    • If married, must have been validly married in the Catholic Church by a Priest or Deacon.
    • Participating Catholic (attends Mass every Sunday and make regular confession).
    • Attend required trainings as scheduled.
    • A minister can serve at multiple parishes if they are trained in each parish they serve at.
