Marriage
We are engaged! What do we do now?
Congratulations! We are excited to celebrate your wedding day with you: the first day of a wonderful lifelong commitment to God and to each other. Here are the steps to getting married in the Church:
1. Call the parish office to schedule your big day! (At least 6 months in advance)
2. Prepare for your marriage with our Pre-Cana Marriage Preparation Program. “Pre-Cana” refers to Jesus' first miracle at the wedding in Cana (John 2:1-12). Fr. Mark or Fr. Phil look forward to meeting with you to help you prepare for this sacrament of vocation.
3. Plan your wedding! Do you need help choosing readings or music? Give us a call! We are here to help you make your wedding a beautiful, blessed occasion.
4. Pray for each other, every day! Start this habit now and continue all through your life. Your goal is to help each other on the road toward Heaven.
We were married in a civil service but would like to have our marriage blessed by the Church (convalidated).
Congratulations! One of the many benefits of a sacramental marriage is the power of God’s grace, which helps couples keep their commitment and find happiness together. We look forward to helping you prepare to have your union blessed in a ceremony called "convalidation." To learn more about convalidation, call Fr. Mark our Pastor at St. Nicholas or Fr. Phil our Vicar at St. Gabriel & Prince of Peace.
